Full-stack engineer at Ascendancy
This is not a typical full-stack role. You would work directly with the founder (a unicorn founder) and Ascendancy's engineering team to build the platform behind it.
The rare part is proximity: every feature maps to a specific client, match, or conversation. You see impact in days, not quarters.
applyAbout Ascendancy
Ascendancy is a Chief Network Officer.
- Tagline
- “We compound your network capital.”
- Why
- To expand your network, grow your company, and go from drowning in opportunities to unlocking them with ease.
- What
- Mapping. Intel. Strategy. Activation. Management. Support.
- Towards
- Clients. Hires. Investors. Advisors. Experts. Media. Partners.
Ascendancy is building the world's most trusted, well-understood network, then activating it as a world-class strategy and network intelligence service.
The product behind that requires sophisticated data architecture, deep AI integration throughout the stack, an AI that understands people in incredibly rich ways, tight collaboration between AI and humans — the team, the clients, the community — and a relentless focus on elevating the human experience.
What you would build
You would own meaningful surface area across the relationship graph, matching engine, AI workflows that augment Ascendancy's analysis, and client-facing surfaces. Ownership will be divided based on fit and interest.
The core problem is technically rich: modeling relationships, signals, and intent precisely enough to surface non-obvious matches. AI is woven into the stack, not bolted on.
For the right person, there are many tracks from here: technical leadership, partner, co-founder, or an Ascendancy spinout you start yourself.
Must haves
- Strong full-stack engineering across Python, TypeScript, and Next.js. You have shipped production systems end-to-end.
- Experience integrating AI agents and LLM workflows into real products, not just demos.
- A real eye for UX. You care how the thing feels, not just whether it works.
- Comfort with ambiguity. Startup pace, no playbook, and real ownership over what gets built next.
- Extreme ownership. You scope, build, ship, monitor, and fix without being asked twice.
- Solid instincts around secure auth, authorization, and data modeling.
- Track record on public-facing or production-grade user applications.
- Fluent written and verbal English.
- Willingness to work hard: 40+ hours/week.
Nice to haves
- Neo4j or other graph database experience. Networks are the product.
- Google Cloud Platform experience.
- CRM, email, calendar, or messaging API integrations.
- Background as an early-stage startup engineer or technical founder.
- Familiarity with automation, data pipelines, or relationship/network products.
Compensation & benefits
- $60k-$100k per year, depending on experience and fit. Targeting the lower end, willing to pay more for an exceptional candidate.
- Equity.
- Fully remote, with periodic in-person offsites in the US. You should be able to travel.
- Direct access to the founder, the team, and Ascendancy's network of founders, operators, and investors.
Why you shouldn't join
- The hours are long and the intensity is high.
- You will get direct, frequent feedback. You need to want it.
- The product is early and the spec moves. If you need stability, this is not it.
